The Family Juices Project

Hey Mom and Dad,

Just got back from the 2018 maiden voyage of the Familyman Mobile RV. Besides being a little windy in Oklahoma, the RV did great… and got my traveling juices flowing once again.

The traveling juices settle down a bit when you’re not on the road and are replaced by tranquil thoughts of staying put and of Bilbo Baggins. He was the Hobbit who almost missed a great adventure because he favored the comforts and safety of home.

But it only takes a whiff of the open road and those first few steps down the trail to set the juices flowing. It also made me want to fix up the old gal (she’s 25 years old this year). She runs like a top – the interior has just been redone for the second time, but the outside is looking a little rough with chipped and faded paint along with two cracked windshields.

But the juices are flowing and I’m going to repaint the thing myself along with my son, Ike (19) and a bunch of YouTube videos (I’ll post the progress).

I’m telling you there’s something about a do-it-yourself family project that… gets the juices flowing! Next door, my son and his wife are starting to gut a $1,200 travel trailer to make it their own for a few camping trips this summer. After watching the progress, I have half a mind to pick up a cheap trailer just to start rebuilding it for one of my children.

So here’s my springtime advice for all you camper wanna-bees. NOW is the time to get an old unit, dream a little with your family, tear into it and then paint walls, recover cushions, and GET THE JUICES FLOWING!!!

Once they start flowing… who knows what adventure awaits you. Bilbo learned his lesson and later said to his nephew, It’s a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to.

Swing wide and keep your eye on your tail,

Todd

P.S. – Hey Homeschool Co-op leaders… need a speaker for your back-to-school night in the fall? If you live within 225 miles of Milford, IN it’s easy to have me for a fun night of encouragement. Email me and we’ll see if we can make it happen.
